New Wave brings Sheffield’s emerging creatives together at Sheffield Flourish

A new creative showcase is bringing emerging artists from across Sheffield and Yorkshire together for a day of music, poetry, performance and art.

New Wave, hosted by Afrobeat and Afrofusion artist Mitchell X, is a collaboration between SADACCA and the Castlegate Festival, designed to give new and upcoming creatives a platform to showcase their work.

The event will feature a range of performers and artists, including poets, actors and musicians, with most participants based in Sheffield, Yorkshire and the surrounding areas.

Rather than following a fixed lineup, New Wave will take an open mic approach, allowing performers to register when they arrive and take part throughout the day.

The organisers say the format is intended to create a more spontaneous experience, giving new artists the opportunity to perform while keeping the day’s programme unpredictable.

Attendees are encouraged to arrive from 12:30pm so the event can get underway on time.

New Wave will take place at Sheffield Flourish, in the Wicker area of Sheffield, bringing together creatives from across the local scene for a day focused on discovering and celebrating new talent.

With an open format and performers signing up on the day, the event aims to create a space where emerging artists can take their first steps onto the local creative scene and audiences can discover something new.
